- Emergency Medical Care
- To provide prompt and appropriate emergency medical service at the time of emergency injuries and calamities, to ensure county residence and visitors’ safety, to establish efficient emergency medical care system and raise emergency medical service functions so Lienchiang County residence acquire high quality and highly efficient emergency medical services. The Lienchiang County Bureau of Public Health has Lienchiang County Disaster Prevention Plan and Lienchiang County Emergency Disease Operation Procedure to reduce the casualties and ensure residence safety.

- Ambulance Helicopter Application Principles
Applicable to the following situation (DOH, Executive Yuan Announcement)
- Trauma index less than 20 or age below 5 and trauma index less than 9
- GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) less than 10
- Head, neck, trunk penetrating injury or crush injury
- Acute vertebral or spinal cord trauma or result in paralysis of limbs
- Complete or incomplete amputation injury (excluding fingers or toes amputation injury)
- Two or more (including two) long bone fracture or serious pelvis fracture
- Second-degree, third-degree 10% burn area or facial, perineum burns
- Drowning and complication of serious respiratory disease
- Organ failure needs intensive care
- Need air transport referral otherwise will lose emergency ambulance time
- Implementation Methodology
- Sign emergency medical care contract with the helicopter company. The helicopter will park at Nangan Town at night to serve the emergency medical service purpose. During the day, the helicopter parking location will not be assigned but must pick up patients within 3 hours of application.
- Off-shore island patients who cannot wait for regular flights or ships obtain doctors’ agreement before applying for helicopter transport. The government reimburses the qualified applicants. The patients will be sent to the County Hospital first. Shall the County Hospital not able to help the patient, the patient will be referred to Taiwan to be hospitalized.
- The hospital which provides medical care to the referral must fill out the Department of Health, Executive Yuan’s air transport referral form and air paramedic records and make 3 copies. One copy is retained by the applying hospital, one is retained by the reception hospital and one is retained by the Public Health Bureau.
